Administrative Staff

Mr D R Jewsbury BSc, DBA: Practice Manager
Mrs D Bellett: Deputy Practice Manager
First point of contact for patients with comments.

There are seven part-time receptionists who are the first point of contact with the surgery (and are here to help and guide you). Three of these are qualified dispensers who also work from Dorrington Surgery.
Our appointment system is computerised - should you be unable to attend, please let us know so that your appointment can be offered to someone else.

Practice Nurses

Sister S Hughes, Sister E Booth, Sister Lynch and Staff Nurse T Hutton.
The Practice Nurses are responsible for chronic disease management and health promotion/lifestyle advice. Individual practice nurses run specialist clinics, but they are also available for advice and treatment of minor injuries/ailments, cervical smears, injections, ear syringing and blood pressures. Immunisations and travel health advice are also offered. If possible, make appointment several weeks prior to departure.

Community Team

The Health Visitor, Mrs Linda Bean, is a Registered Nurse. Her role encompasses all aspects of family, including birth, child health, health promotion, care of the elderly, bereavement and identifying "at risk groups" of all ages. The contact number is (01743) 874532. Patients may be seen at home, clinic or at the surgery.
The District Nursing Team provides nursing care for all patients with a terminal illness. They can be contacted 7 days a week on 01743 874661.

Other Staff

Staff attached to the practice during the week include a physiotherapist, chiropodists, counselor and midwife.

Other Doctors and Medical Students

Our practice is a training and teaching practice and a General Practitioner Registrar is attached to the practice for 6 -12 months at a time. The registrars already have considerable hospital experience and are supported at all times by the GP's. Medical students are also seconded to the practice from Keele and Manchester University. Patients may occasionally be asked to see a medical student prior to seeing the doctor, allowing the student to gain experience. This is a voluntary arrangement and any patients not wishing to participate may decline. Locum doctors are also employed in the practice to cover absences due to holidays and other businesses.
